Chiesa being a dangerous move is laughable. Hes 10m, not 100m.

Ajax have signed Burnley striker Wout Weghorst for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old Netherlands international joined the Clarets for 12m from Wolfsburg in January 2022.

However, he scored just two goals in 20 Premier League appearances as they were relegated to the Championship.

He was loaned to Besiktas and then Manchester United in 2022-23 before spending last season with Hoffenheim.

New Burnley boss Scott Parker brought him off the bench in their opening weekend win over Luton for his first appearance for the club in over two years.

Weghorst, who has been capped 39 times, described himself as beingincredibly proud, externalto have joined the Amsterdam side.

West Ham v Man City (Sat, 17:30 BST)

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui on midfielder Edson Alvarez, who played an hour of Wednesdays Carabao Cup win:Edson has been out for three months so its not easy for him. It was his first match in the line-up and he showed big energy. Hes going to need time to adapt and recover his best fitness, and hes going to do that step by step.

On new captain Jarrod Bowen, who was named in Lee Carsleys first England squad:We are very happy for Jarrod. Hes in the national team again and he deserves it. He is our captain and is ready to develop his responsibility. I am very happy with his commitment and I think he is a good player.

West Ham v Man City (Sat, 17:30 BST)

West Ham beatBournemouth in the Carabao Cup onJulenLopeteguis 58th birthday and he said:It was the best present, a victory that allows us to go forward in this competition, but that is the past and the present is to be ready for the big challenge we have in Manchester City.

On City having a weeks break between fixtures:It happens and we have to be focused. We have to be ready and use these two days to rest a lot to have a line-up full of energy to face the best team in the world.

The quality of the City players and coach are top, but we are going to go on Saturday with the aim to be able to overcome an unbelievable team.

West Ham v Man City (Sat, 17:30 BST)

Speaking about whether West Ham will bring in any more new players before Fridays transfer deadline, manager Julen Lopetegui said:A lot of main actors in football think you have to be competing while the market is open, but nobody is able to do anything about it and we have to adapt – anything can happen.

Lille midfielder Angel Gomes has earned his first senior call-up for England but the 23-year-old has long been on the national teams radar.

As well as being in Englands Under-21s with Lee Carsley, the Manchester United academy product was on the long list for Euro 2024 but ended up being cut.

Gomes has been in constant contact with the Football Association, despite playing his football in France, and hasnt felt as if he is out of sight and out of mind because he is overseas.

He joins Tino Livramento, Noni Madueke and Morgan Gibbs-White in earning his first call-up.

Napoli have paid Chelsea a fee of 30m for striker Romelu Lukaku.

The 31-year-old will join former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at the Serie A side and it will be the Belgians third straight season in Italy having spent the last two on loan with Inter Milan and then Roma.

Chelsea midfielder Tino Anjorin has also moved to Italys Serie A, joining Empoli on a three-year deal.

Napoli have announced that they have completed the permanent transfer of Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

Interim boss Lee Carsley on if there was any hesitation when taking the job:No, not really. Im really confident in the job we can do with the players we have, and Im really confident in this group of players doing well in the future.

For the person coming in next, the objective is quite simple, to win a major tournament.

Interim boss Lee Carsley on Trent Alexander-Arnold:For me and this camp especially, hell be playing in defence as a right-back. I think Trent is like a lot of modern-day full-backs, they have a lot of all-round attributes that turn them into midfielders. Hes very confident on the ball and has great range of passing.

Leicester City v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Leicester City boss Steve Cooper says there are no new fitness concerns ahead of Saturdays game:[Theres] no changes to personnel. You saw Conor Coady come back and get some minutes [against Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup].

But, on top of the win the other night, we had some guys come in and get good minutes, which is a bonus.

On facing Aston Villa:You have to have belief in your work and the plan – and then stick to it. We are playing a Champions League team and you have to respect that but, from the Spurs game, we have to see what happens.

We have got to ensure that we take the game to Villa and believe in our concept and what it can do in the game.

Leicester City v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Leicester City boss Steve Cooper confirmed there has been transfer interest in striker Tom Cannon:He is definitely a good young player that is attracting a lot of attention. So it is possible [he could leave the club]. If he does, it will be a decision the club thinks is right. If he doesnt, I will look forward to working with him.

On whether any of his first-team players are looking for a move away from the club, Cooper said:If somebody came to me and said they wanted to leave, we would look into that. But that hasnt happened – not one player has said that they want to leave.

Leicester City v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Leicester City boss Steve Cooper confirmed the Foxes interest in signing Bilal El Khannouss from Genk:The process is in motion, there is no point denying that. But it is not completed, so we dont want to get too far ahead of ourselves. If it does go through, we will give you the information then.

On whether there will be any more transfer activity before the deadline:Maybe. I think that anything is possible, including players going the other way too. We are definitely trying to do some things, as we have been throughout [the transfer window].

But we are not going to sign players that we dont think will have the contribution we want. The players that we have already brought in, we think they can make the team better and build on the success of last year.

Interim boss Lee Carsley on the trend of national federations choosing to promote from their under-21s set-up:Its quite different to go from club football to international football because of the lack of contact time you get with players.

You also need an understanding of the system in terms of who you can select, which is really helpful.

I dont think its a blueprint but international management really suits me and how I want to work. It helps the players too, that youre picking the best players to play in a certain system.

Lee Carsley on recalling Harry Maguire and why he chose not to include Kyle Walker:I think the fact that Kyle hasnt played this season would suggest that Manchester City are phasing him in slowly.

Its important that players coming in are up to speed and that theyre ready to play. I would say 98% of the squad have played a lot of minutes.

Harry missed out on the Euros squad through injury. I see him and John Stones as real leaders among the centre-backs that we have got, alongside Levi Colwill and Marc Guehi.

More from interim England manager Lee Carsley on replicating the style of play adopted by his Under-21s side in winning the U21s European Championship in 2023:We have to dominate our opponent in and out of possession. Its great that we want to be seen as an attacking team, but from last summers point of view we went through the whole tournament and didnt concede a goal, which is testament to the defenders.
